Research Interests
My main scientific interest is the combination of Computational Intelligence and Machine Learning approaches with High-Performance Computing strategies to deal with complex and computationally intensive biomedical problems.
My research activities focus on the design and development of novel methods and strategies to address real biomedical problems. I constantly work to effectively and efficiently combine Computational Intelligence (e.g., Evolutionary Computation, Swarm Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic) and Machine Learning approaches with High-Performance Computing strategies (e.g., General-Purpose Computing on Graphics Processing Units) to tackle complex and/or intensive problems in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics (e.g., Dimensional Reduction), Computational Systems Biology (e.g., Simulation of large scale models, Parameter Estimation), and other bio- and medical-based areas (e.g., Image analysis, Pattern Recognition).
